General Film Submissions

The Jersey City Indie Film Fest (JCIFF) is a monthly celebration of bold storytelling, emerging filmmakers, and creative voices from around the world.

We believe film is more than entertainment it’s perspective. It’s culture. It’s identity. It’s risk. It’s truth. Every month, JCIFF explores a new theme, spotlighting fresh narratives and diverse artistic expressions.

We invite filmmakers to share work that moves audiences, sparks conversation, and reflects authentic storytelling. Whether your project is intimate and personal or cinematic and expansive if it has heart, intention, and craft, it belongs here.

What We Accept

JCIFF welcomes all genres and creative formats, including:

Narrative Short Films
Documentaries
Music Video Shorts
Experimental Films
Animation
Hybrid Projects blending mediums or storytelling styles

We are especially interested in films that feel intentional, emotionally resonant, and creatively distinct.

Film Requirements

Runtime: 5–60 minutes total length
Genres: All genres welcome
Original Work: Submissions must be original content owned by the filmmaker or production team

Trailer Requirements

Every submission must include a trailer or teaser.

Trailer lengh: 60-190 seconds
Teaser length: 15–60 seconds
Must accurately represent the tone, aesthetic, or narrative of the film
Used for promotional consideration if selected

Submission Materials

Please prepare the following:

Film Summary
A 150–300 word description outlining your film, its themes, and inspiration.

Director & Cast Bio
Short bios to spotlight the creators behind the work.

Film File or Screener Link
Downloadable link or password-protected screener.

Trailer Link or File
Must meet the time requirements above.

Contact Information
Include the best email for festival updates and notifications.

Technical Specifications

Accepted formats: MP4 or MOV
Minimum resolution: 1080p (4K accepted but not required)
Clean audio and clear visuals strongly encouraged

Eligibility

International submissions welcome
Prior festival screenings permitted
Films created within the last 3 years preferred (not required)

Deadlines & Notifications

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
Specific screening deadlines will be announced monthly.

Selected filmmakers will be notified via email.

Submission Agreement

By submitting, you grant the Jersey City Indie Film Fest permission to use your trailer, stills, and select promotional materials for festival marketing and promotional purposes.

Submission does not guarantee participation.
